Shrine Location
The Ukrainian Catholic National
Shrine has become an established and highly visible
presence of Eastern Catholicism in Washington, D.C.
Approximately 3 1/2 miles north of the U.S. Capitol
building, the Shrine is adjacent to St. Josaphat's
Ukrainian Catholic Seminary, and across the street from
the campus of the Catholic University of America. We are
also a very short distance from the Basilica of the
National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
The site of our newest neighbor, the Pope John Paul II Cultural
Center,
is just a brief walk away.
The new Center is part international think-tank and
part Papal museum. It is similar in concept to special
libraries constructed in honor of former U.S. Presidents.
In addition, numerous religious orders maintain
residences or facilities in the surrounding area.
